100+ degrees? Put the pool & sprinkler in shade

Note to self: get bigger, better wading pool. Small lady bug sandbox is no longer working for 4-foot-2-1/2-inch tall, 62-pound, 7-year-old boy.

Okay, just a quick tip. I learned last summer, in the 105-plus degree heat of Kansas, that if you put a wading pool in the shade, you will actually shiver!

No kidding. It was more than 100 degrees, but in the shade with a breeze and the cold water from the hose and a sprinkler drizzling over us made it feel like it was 70 degrees out.

We really were nearly shivering! It was the best feeling in the world. Give it a try! We did it again this past weekend.

  1. No matter how big the pool, when you are a kid you just love having one! I like his use for the lid! It looks like he is going to slide in the snow... or maybe down a slipnslide!

    1. That's true. He didn't actually complain, he just looks HUGE in it to me, LOL. But you're right, it does look like he's about to go sledding!

  3. If only we had shade then this would be perfect for us. Sprinklers sure are fun though!

    1. Hmmm... is there a shady side to the house at a certain time of day? Or I saw a post recently about making a clothes line tent. Maybe you could do that between two poles and make your own shade!

    1. Aw, hope it clears up at least for a little while. Here in KS we are loving the rain with the bad drought we've had.

    1. LOL, thank you. Doesn't seem to bother him, but it looks funny when I see him in the pics!

  6. We have yet to reach 100 degrees here in PA but Jasmyn has a pool for that I can not seem to keep her out of! How clever of Brady to utilize both pieces of the sand box :) Looks like a LOT of fun

    1. Wow, lucky you! We haven't had near as many 100+ days as last summer (it was a record), but still it gets warm.
